- Preferences — to remember choices such as your last sign-in email and whether you've completed first-run steps (the "how it works" intro and eligibility confirmation), so you aren't shown them again.

2. Why they're needed
These technologies are essential: without them you could not stay signed in, transact securely, or have your preferences remembered. Because they are strictly necessary to deliver a service you request, they do not require consent under most frameworks.
